Smooth run – Turbo Subaru powered Porsche 914 at the 3-21-10 PCA autocross

Jeff’s fastest run. We took the WRX powered 914 project out for its first autocross. The main purpose was to test the engine and tranny, and also to get an idea of what needs to be done with the suspension. We found out that the car understeers far too much, but the mechanicals worked flawlessly. It’s got an ej20t out of a 2003 Subaru WRX, running a little less boost than stock for now, until we can get it back on the dyno. The 5 speed subaru tranny was also swapped into the car.

This is only her second run… ever. She picked it right up and did very well (Fastest Stock Lady for the day)! I told her to “Floor it!” and one point, knowing damn well it was a slick and off-camber turn and she was probably going to spin. I was proud to see her save it AND make it through the gate and avoid a DNF!!! Awesome job baby!

Spec Miata race at Buttonwillow Raceway 04-26-09

This is my first race on my real racing license, I’m no longer on my rookie permit! I spun during the qualifying race so I started 2nd from last. My motor was on it’s last legs so I don’t have a ton of power, but was able to move up several spots throughout the race. Biggest bummer is my last lap spin, nearly got slammed into by the orange car and lost 3 positions! Fun race but it does suck to make a big mistake on the last lap. Mods: 1996 ZF-6 speed transmission, spec stage 2+ clutch, spec aluminum flywheel, Hooker super comp ceramic coated headers, 3 inch exhaust no cats, 52mm TPIS throttle body, ultrashield deluxe road racing seat, 2 6 point cam lock harnesses, 1 3/4 inch 120 gauge mandrel bent roll bar, some other stuff.
