Here’s an autocross montage shot in Louisville Kentucky in the UPS parking lot at Louisville International Airport. This event took place in August 2011 and is a mix from the morning and afternoon runs. After receiving feedback from various people I’ve tried to make this video feel like my original autocross video from 2009. I’ve done my best to include as many participants as possible but some are probably left out. I used an unhacked Panasonic GH2 shooting at 1280 x 720 60p…unfortunately I used the lower data rate version of that option, but that shouldn’t effect the quality too much. One of the more interesting things I messed with on the shoot was the ETC mode with the Panasonic 100-300mm OIS lens, which if on a full frame sensor turns the lens into roughly a 780mm – 2340mm. When shooting full telephoto I was very frustrated in the moment of recording because even though I was watching the flip out LCD, the action was so fast and the field of view so small I couldn’t really tell if I was keeping the cars framed properly. Once I captured and transcoded the footage I was beyond impressed with the ETC mode and was very thankful to be using a nice tripod head. The only other piece of gear I wish I had was a variable ND filter so I didn’t have to stop down all the way. If anyone has questions or comments feel free to post them in the comments section, and I’ll get back with you. Thanks! 0:40 Start of Lap 1:20 Start of Spin A bogged start, near spin, but a fast finish, this lap wasn’t great, but the top was up so the sound came out better on the camera. (The back end comes out on a 90 left and I save it into a 180 right) a lap of the Wiregrass Region SCCA autocross course on 14 Sept 2008 in a 1992 Miata 1.6 with racing beat sway bars, ebc red stuff brake pads and rotors, and dunlop z1 195/55-15 tires

My ‘89 Acura Integra rolled over to 230000 miles exactly when I pulled up into the staging area right before my first pass. My thoughts? “My car has 230 thousand miles on it now. Let’s go beat on it.” You can’t say that about many brands other then Honda, and I’m a DSM guy. [For the rare few that don't know, Honda owns Acura]. [I am dead serious, the car really did hit 230k then, total coincidence. Brings new meaning to the statement "Real life is stranger then fiction."] *ahem* Right, details. This is a video of my laps/runs/passes at: SCCA Autocross event in Verona, Virginia on 03-22-2009. For those not familiar: Sports Car Club of America [SCCA]: www.scca.com This event is in SCCA’s “Blue Ridge Region” [BRR]: www.brr-scca.org I was in ST [Stock Touring] class. With the timeframe we had, everyone actually got 5 passes apiece – a generous number for this type of thing [at the Nationals, I'm told you only get 2 or 3] There was a LOT of pebbles and gravel on the track that day, and a LOT of people were having a hard time with it. The was a nice, large, convenient patch halfway around the wide, sweeping U-turn at the end of the big straightaway, the first time you get to the far end of the big section of the parking lot. You’ll notice that twice my tail came out there, and I saw the same thing happen to several other people. Other then that, it was a fun course. The Cold Air Intake that was on the car when I bought it [which is also the only performance mod] unfortunately

Spec Miata, June 13, 2010

These are the last few laps of the Spec Miata race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., on June 13, 2010. Tyler Vance is in the back Miata and John Stott is in the white car. I am in an ITA Miata. My competition was the red RX-7 that slid off track at the beginning. With that gap in hand, I decided to stick close to the SMs, because it was an exciting race to watch.

Autocross Louisville Kentucky

Here’s a little autocross montage I shot on September 27, 2009. This was the first time I had ever seen autocrossing before. I was able to get a ride in the last black corvette shown in the video. It didn’t take me very long after the ride started to realize why we needed to wear helmets(your head gets banged around the interior a lot). This was a really fun day and I had a great time. Enjoy the video! Equipment used: Camera: Panasonic GH1 Lenses: Stock Panasonic 14-140mm, Olympus OM 300mm …
