SpecMiata fast laps at PIR with Gary Bockman

This is what happens when Portland Homes For Cars goes to the track for some seat time! I took a break between instructing students to have my mentor Gary Bockman take me around the track at full speed in one of our cars. Two fast laps around Portland International Raceway by Gary Bockman of BSI Racing in a 1999 Spec Miata.
A highlight reel of some of the more exciting moments during the 2011 SCCA Mazda Spec Miata season. This was our first year racing sports cars and we had a great season amassing multiple wins, a track record, and the CACC Sports Car Rookie of the Year honors. 2012 will mark new beginnings as we are focused on drifting, obtaining our PRO Formula Drift license. PiR SCCA Spec Miata Race – Contact While Passing for Lead

Some contact was made between Matt Schultz and I as I was passing for the lead. I was then shuffled back in the pack as I went out into the grass. Live and learn; scrub those tires after an off-track excursion! We managed to still sneak out a third place result in the race and I went onto finishing second the following day. Big Save at PIR, SCCA Spec Miata Drift Testing?

Second session learning the track on old tires in Practice before the SCCA National weekend at Portland International Raceway. When you have very minimal seat time before an event, find the limits quickly where it is safe. This definitely isn’t a 4th gear corner! We were running without the chicane this weekend, 118mph (no draft) entry into the braking zone, not bad for a little Spec Miata. May 6-8/2011 www.brodygoble.com

Spec Miata PIR National Race 2, July 2011 – Part 1 (Full of Mistakes)

Full of mistakes – too excited to run with the big boys at the front. This is our first National SCCA race, and third race ever in a car. Finished 5th/14 in Spec Miata, and 4th the previous day from a run from last place (didn’t qualify). Tons to learn from for the next one at Miller Motorsports Park in August/11!
