SCCA National at Blackhawk Farms – Spec Miata 2012

Josh Bilicki racing the 2012 May SCCA National Race in Spec Miata. Josh qualified 12th place and finished 8th. Traffic played a huge part in this race.
My first Spec Miata race win. They inverted the top 10 after qualifying placing me 6th on the grid for the race. Great racing with Kyle Loustaunau and Phillip Holifield. Almost threw it away being defensive…..
May 30 – 2011. Tons of fun, wish we had some power for the straights. Started 12th out of 22 and made our way up to 6th on the first lap. I slowly fell back as I got picked off down the straight lap after lap. We need a pro motor to compete with the guys in the National Races… www.brodygoble.com

Full of mistakes – too excited to run with the big boys at the front. This is our first National SCCA race, and third race ever in a car. Finished 5th/14 in Spec Miata, and 4th the previous day from a run from last place (didn’t qualify). Tons to learn from for the next one at Miller Motorsports Park in August/11!

Danny Rainman Steyn, hanging it out at Sebring during the Test Day for the January 2011 double National weekend. It has just rained, and thetrack was damp and very slick, and Danny was out on worn Toyo RA-1’s with no grooves. Perfect recipe to have FUN! FUN! FUN! A whole new way to do the Turn 15/16 complex at Sebring International

This is part 1 of 3. August 7/11 Onboard Brody Goble’s Spec Miata for Sunday’s SCCA National Final at Miller Motorsports Park “West Track” in Salt Lake City, UT. This race had 23 Mazda Spec Miatas as well as several Porsche 944 Cup Cars on the grid behind. This start was actually protested by the polesitter Tyler Dahl – I was accused of jumping the starting and then smashing into the polesitter’s door as I went past him. The protest was thrown out by the SCCA Chief Stewards after this footage was shown as I did not touch Dahl and did not jump the start. After passing Dahl into turn 1 he then gives me a pretty good tap on the rear quarter costing me a couple positions on the start, but hey I didn’t cry over it. Be sure to catch the next 2 parts as Thomas Micich and I battle out the closing two laps for 3rd place. There is a ton of passing going on back and forth and very clean racing with Thomas. He has huge amounts of karting experience in the Stars of Karting series like myself. www.brodygoble.com
