FSAE West 2010 Autocross Onboard – University of Washington Car #47

Onboard footage from the University of Washington’s Team 21 Formula SAE race car at the Formula SAE West competition hosted by the Auto Club Speedway. This footage is from the autocross event on the afternoon of day three of the competition. I was the second of two drivers to make my timed laps in our car. Having been preoccupied during the previous quarter of school, I did not get a chance to drive the car before competition. These two laps were actually my first and second outings in the car at full speed. Without the help and support of my team I would not have been able to perform at the level I did. Both laps were clean while the second was fast enough to earn the team a sixth place finish in the autocross event. The first autocross run for our 2010 Formula Hybrid International Competition entry. We competed as a Hybrid-In-Progress with LiFePo batteries driving two LMC motors powering the rear wheels. We placed 2nd in HIP and 12th overall. This run resulted in a mechanical DNF due to a left rear tie-rod failure near the end of the run.

Part 1 of an oily weekend for DART Racing: This was after the proper fast lap on hot tires was redflagged due to an opponents spin. Driver Clenn Giebenhain had to restart on cold and dirty tires for this lap after being guided back to the start through an oil patch and waiting for several minutes. Having lost 8 tenth to the first split on Stuttgart he aggressively pushes the gamma2008 to the only 52s time of the autcross, unfortunaltely knockes cone
