MVP Track Time Road America 2011 – Session 1 – 1991 Miata

Here is the first session on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the MVP Track Time track day at Road America. We were in the intermediate group. Taking it easy for this first session to check everything out, read below. It was a shake down for the car. This is the first event after doing a complete suspension overhaul; installing V8 Roadsters tubular control arms and a Spec Miata suspension kit. These are the last part of the suspension upgrade, and complement the Wilwood big brake kit that was installed last year and the Toyo R888 tires on Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 wheels. SCCA Spec Miata — Rockingham, NC — Full Race — 3-Jul-2008

This is the full race, from just before the “1 minute whistle” on the grid, including pace laps. Click here www.youtube.com if you want to skip to the start. This was my first race on this track, first race on a high-banked track ever, which was quite an experience. I qualified 6th, had a good battle with red #92 Spec Miata before he dropped out due to mechanical difficulty, and made a few mistakes near the end. I won’t spoil the finish, but places 1 – 4 were separated by maybe 2 seconds.

A recap of the Novice and Pro section of the autocross held at Nassau Colloseum. Tried to get all of the cars that ran today. My apologizes if I missed a few. Enjoy! Pardon the quality. I will be posting up a HQ version shortly.
A quick-ish lap, a couple passes… fun times. Could still do it faster though. The car is prepared by Ed Railton and sponsored by Premier Auto Service. Cam is a Contour HD, shot in 720p.

Big Save at PIR, SCCA Spec Miata Drift Testing?

Second session learning the track on old tires in Practice before the SCCA National weekend at Portland International Raceway. When you have very minimal seat time before an event, find the limits quickly where it is safe. This definitely isn’t a 4th gear corner! We were running without the chicane this weekend, 118mph (no draft) entry into the braking zone, not bad for a little Spec Miata. May 6-8/2011 www.brodygoble.com
