Spec Miata race at Buttonwillow Raceway – 06/27/10 1CCW

When I’m not busy working on music, I occasionally take my Miata out to the racetrack. Here’s some of the laps from my June 2010 race at Buttonwillow Raceway. Out of 17 cars, I started 13th and finished 11th. Not too bad for a terrible race car driver! baddriverracing.com

When I’m not busy working on music, I occasionally take my Miata out to the racetrack. Qualified 8th out of 21 cars and finished 5th!!

This is the first time I’ve had contact on a race track. Someone up front missed a shift and we all bunched up. I tried to get the car stopped but didn’t really have anywhere to go. Neck is sore, car has a bent frame (in front of the front suspension). After spending some time removing some bent brackets and broken plastic bits, it does look like it will live to see another race day.

This is my first race on my real racing license, I’m no longer on my rookie permit! I spun during the qualifying race so I started 2nd from last. My motor was on it’s last legs so I don’t have a ton of power, but was able to move up several spots throughout the race. Biggest bummer is my last lap spin, nearly got slammed into by the orange car and lost 3 positions! Fun race but it does suck to make a big mistake on the last lap. Sunday Spec Miata NASA race at Buttonwillow 13 CW without the bus stop, video 2 of 4, towards the end of this clip I get passed by an E30 (not in my class) who spins, I swerve to avoid him and slow down as much as I can and would have hit him if the other E30 didn’t fly by and crash him right off the track and out of my way, unfortunately I was going very slow at that point and I got passed, but re-passed him later…
Tracking the Spec* Miata at the Streets of Willow Springs. May 7th, 2009. It was a private Live Sockets-organized event. Check out the badass editing and stuff haha, it’s my first time actually “editing” a video. Lame. It was fun passing faster cars, but I only got in a few clean laps with no traffic. My First Race – NASA Spec Miata at Buttonwillow Raceway

First 2 laps of my rookie race at Buttonwillow Raceway in my Spec Miata. Started 15th, I think I finished 12th or 13th. Not bad since my main goals were to 1. not crash, 2. finish the race, and 3. not finish last! Looks like Bill (yellow car) had problems with 3rd gear so got around him at the start. Looking forward to the next race and picking up my lap times a bit! I think the best I could manage was a 2:11, which was about 4 seconds off the leaders pace. Now if I could only do a 2:11 …
