08-23-09 El Toro SCCA Autocross Event

The mighty Fiat 850 Sedan driven by John Edwards Costa Mesa R&D Automotive Machine was out once again this weekend at El Toro for the final event at this venue for the year. This is the last local event before the National Runoffs in Lincoln NE. The car finished 2nd in a large field of entrants. The Historic Class group got together for a BBQ after the event – GREAT FUN! www.engine-machining.com (949) 631-6376

I have a 40 DFAV and have had it on the car, but wasn’t able to spend enough time getting it tuned, so the DGV went back on. Building a 1075cc A-112 Abarth-Autobianchi engine for the car and will probably reinstall the DFAV then.

Is there any chance of putting a bigger carb on? Maybe a 38 DGAS/DCNF or 40 DFAV? I normally don’t say/ask someone if they can put a bigger carb on as I like smaller carbs on vehicles, but if you need more breathing room, would any of these be worth it? And 8200 sounds so sweet! I love that little motor!

Around 8200 rpms, the engine just runs out of air, the 32/36 DGV isn’t the most cfm friendly carb, but it does the job most of the time.
